By-election for Mayor

Sorell residents will elect a new Mayor in June 2024.

Local, skilled and trusted, I am thoroughly qualified and well prepared to be Sorell Mayor. 

I’ll bring a steady hand with the passion, dedication and know-how to work with people from all walks of life; to treasure the local character and lifestyle we love; and to keep working hard for thriving, welcoming, resilient communities across the south east.

Sorell is one of the fastest growing municipalities in the state, with a skilled staff team, well established finance and asset management systems and a regional approach that supports jobs, education and prudent future development. 

A Sorell Councillor for more than 5 years, first elected 2018 and re-elected in 2022, I am a respected community advocate, company director and writer/editor – I know government, business and community development from the inside and out. A calm and collaborative leader, with governance expertise backed by decades of public sector, business, volunteer and local government experience at local, state and national levels.

Those five years have seen rapid growth, major infrastructure builds, a new planning scheme, another attempt at local government reform, and record increases in the cost of housing, food and other essentials. Serving on Council, Sorell Audit Panel, Sorell Planning Authority and involved in the Local Government Association has built relationships that are critical to maintaining confidence in Council and advocating for the Sorell region.

Working wisely together, we’ll continue to build on local achievements and connections, support more opportunities for young people, for work and education, advocating on community issues and improving health and wellbeing across Sorell and the south east.
